Dave HerbertDavid Herbert has been Chief Engineer at Sun Hydraulics Corporation in Sarasota, Florida for eight years where he is responsible for new product development, manufacturing support and product integrity.  Prior to Sun, he worked for Eaton Automotive, BorgWarner Automotive, Allied Signal, Pratt & Whitney, and the Department of the Navy.

Innovations in construction hydraulics include the “LoadMatch” counterbalance valve that saves around 25-55% of the base amount of horsepower used to drive a load down.  Dave is quoted in saying, “Applications that raise a load from ground level and come down empty would benefit greatly, with the potential to save 40% of the energy consumed in that function,” – sae.org

Dave has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University in his hometown of Detroit.  Other community activities include work with Easter Seals of SW Florida, Leadership Sarasota, Junior Achievement, Society of Automotive Engineers, and Save the Manatee Club.
