Betsy Benac is the Manatee County Commissioner for District 7, and is chair of the county commission.
Benac previously worked for the county as a planner from 1983 to 1994. She worked for WilsonMiller Planning & Engineering and Benderson Development before winning her first race as a politician against incumbent commissioner Joe McClash in a countywide race in 2012.
Her community involvement includes the Kiwanis Club of Bradenton, Leadership Manatee, Manatee Chamber of Commerce, Manatee County Economic Development Council, Head Start, Girl Scouts of Florida, Manatee Tiger Bay, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Junior Achievement.
Betsy Benac was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, and moved to Florida in 1982. She and her husband, Bob have been married for 32 years and have two adult children, both graduates of Manatee County Public Schools.
On Thursday, April 9, 2015, Betsy Benac will lead a panel called, The Re-making of America – Advanced Manufacturing during the 3.0 Leaders Conference.
