Executive Director/CEO Ideas for Us

Clayton Louis Ferrara is an American naturalist, teacher, and writer currently living in Winter Park, Florida.

Clayton is a classically trained biologist and his expeditions have taken him to five continents in search of wildlife, research, and adventure. He is the first American to be named a “Darwin Scholar” by the Field Studies Council in London for his achievements as a young naturalist under 30. After leaving Rollins, he built a small Natural History Museum by hand in Oakland, Florida – curating a collection of plants, insects, and articulated skeletons as the Director of Education and Head Curator for the 128 acre nature preserve. From there he sharpened his teeth in the Independent Sector by founding the Terra Firma Institute and serving as a found board member of the now United Nations accredited and international NGO, IDEAS For Us. He has served as the ED/CEO of IDEAS For Us since 2014. In 2011 he was named a “Young Alum of significant distinction” by Rollins College and in 2014 he was voted onto the Emerging Leader’s Council of the National Wildlife Federation. He is a board member of the New Leader’s Council in Orlando, Florida and an adjunct professor of the prestigious private K-12 Ampersand School. He loves Turtles and Tortoises.
